KTAT (Knighton Tree Allotment Trust) needs Woodland Conservation volunteers

Knighton Tree Allotments Trust (KTAT) is a group of volunteers who come together to share and learn woodland skills and to use those skills for the benefit of wildlife and our members. We sustainably manage woodlands and allow our members access to affordable woodland products such as firewood and timber.

We are seeking new volunteers to allow us to expand our work.

We go out to local woodlands one day a week usually alternating between Thursdays and Sundays and volunteers choose how much of the day to stay for. Volunteers work at their own pace and KTAT provides all the tools and training needed. Our volunteers learn new skills while helping local wildlife.

We are joining cooperatively with other local people to enjoy, conserve and enrich our local environment.

The training provided by KTAT has led to a number of volunteers having industry recognised standards in woodland-related skills such as chainsaw qualifications and qualifications in writing woodland management plans to a level acceptable to Natural Resources Wales.

Our volunteers are not only helping the environment but are gaining friendships, accessing the outdoors, getting fresh air and exercise

Some of the skills we can teach you would include coppicing, safe use of hand tools, cutting and properly seasoning firewood and managing woodlands for wildlife.

For more information and to find out how to join in, please email: or telephone 01547 520374. To learn more about KTAT, please go to

Left on Tuesday 22nd January 2019 for Hear to Help need volunteers to help with hearing aids at our monthly clinic at the Community Centre Reynold's room in Knighton and also at the Youth Centre, Hereford Road in Presteigne.

Yes it was a good session as ever, providing an essential service for NHS hearing aid users. But if I have to go through this rigmarole for PAVO every time I log volunteering hours I will not be bothering to do so for any of the groups I volunteer for. It is not what I signed up for. Interesting to see if anyone actually bothers to read this. ;)

Left on Friday 11th January 2019 for St Edward's Church Thursday Lunch Drop in Club needs volunteers
