Gateway Assessor - Mae Aseswyr Porth Receive full training in the skills needed to help people deal with their problems.

Volunteers who give advice to our clients are at the heart of our service and we could not manage without them.

Volunteer Gateway Assessors receive full training in the skills needed to help people deal with their problems and learn how to find the information the client needs from our extensive database. Volunteers are supported and supervised as they begin to give advice and will get feedback and development opportunities throughout their time at Citizens Advice.

Gateway Assessors do some or all of the following:

- Find out the key points of a clients problem.
- Help the client understand self-help information so the client can act for themselves.
- Help clients with their problems and requesting specialist appointments.
- Signposting clients to other organisations where required.

We are looking for individuals who: - Enjoy helping people. - Respect other peoples views, values and culture. - Can use a computer and the internet. - Are able to commit at least 1 day per week. Individuals need to: - Have an ability to understand complex information. - Be polite and good at listening. - Be familiar with using a computer and searching the internet. - Have a good level of literacy and numeracy. - Be open minded and not judge clients.
